Terms of service

Effective date: pending counsel review. Last updated 2026-05-11.

This is the launch-draft of the Civic Worth terms of service. It is in review with Hiscox-approved counsel and may change before the public launch. The binding effective-date version will be linked from every Civic Worth page footer at launch.

1. Service description

Civic Worth (“the Service”) is a Columbus, Ohio platform that joins federal, county, and city civic data to parcel registries to produce descriptive summaries of specific parcels. The Service is descriptive and citation-based; the Service does not opine on property values, predict future values, characterize residents, or render legal, financial, or real-estate advice.

2. Acceptable use

You may use the Service to obtain civic data about Columbus parcels for personal, journalistic, civic, educational, or research purposes. You may not:

  • Scrape the Service at volumes exceeding the rate limits documented at /api.
  • Resell the Service's output without a white-label or API license.
  • Use the Service to compile personally identifying information about individuals beyond what is in the public parcel record.
  • Use the Service's reports in published materials in a way that suggests an endorsement of any specific property or transaction.

3. Data licensing

Civic Worth's reports incorporate data from federal (Census, EPA, USDOT, FEMA), county (Franklin County Auditor), and city (Columbus zoning, 311) sources. Source datasets remain governed by their original licenses; Civic Worth's synthesis (the arrangement, formatting, and narrative description) is licensed CC-BY-4.0 unless otherwise noted in the report footer.

Press kit content at /press is CC-BY-4.0 and free for partner-publication reuse with attribution.

4. Pricing and refunds

Pricing is set on the relevant pricing page (/citizen for subscriptions, /zone-in for one-time purchases, /api for API tiers, /whitelabel for white-label tiers).

Subscriptions may be canceled at any time from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

One-time purchases are refundable within 7 days if the report did not generate successfully or if the data was demonstrably incorrect (i.e., the synthesis cites the wrong parcel or contains a factual error against the public record). Email support@civicworth.com to request a refund.

5. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” Civic Worth attempts to surface accurate civic data, but the underlying public records may contain errors and the synthesis may lag behind real-world changes (typical connector run cadence is documented at /status).

Civic Worth's reports are not legal advice, real-estate advice, zoning-attorney advice, or appraisal advice. Consult a licensed professional in the relevant jurisdiction before acting on Civic Worth's output in a regulated context (variance filings, transactions, litigation).

6. Account termination

Civic Worth may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the acceptable- use policy in §2. You may delete your account at any time from your account page; deletion follows the data-deletion procedure documented in the privacy policy.

7. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. Disputes are subject to non-binding mediation in Franklin County, Ohio before any litigation. The Service is operated from Columbus, Ohio and is intended for users physically located in the United States.

8. Changes to these terms

Civic Worth may update these terms; material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance via email to active users and via a banner on the homepage. Continued use of the Service after a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
