Free for verified newsrooms and 501(c)(3) nonprofits
Civic Worth makes parcel-resolved civic data accessible to journalists and civic nonprofits at no cost. Apply once; it’s a one-time admin review.
What you get
- Verified newsroom: 100 Standard reports per month, free. Free API access at 1,000 requests/day. A "Civic Worth contributor" tag on co-published stories you can drop in your byline.
- Verified 501(c)(3): 50 Standard reports per month, free. Free API access at 500 requests/day.
Who qualifies
- Journalists with at least one published byline on a recognizable local, regional, or national news outlet — Columbus Underground, Matter News, WOSU, The Confluence Cast, Ohio Capital Journal, or any peer outlet count. Freelancers are welcome; bring a portfolio link.
- 501(c)(3) nonprofits with a civic-utility mission — community development, housing advocacy, immigrant services, environmental justice, voter education, etc. We verify EIN against IRS Pub 78.
What we ask in return
- Cite us in published work. A line like "Parcel data from Civic Worth" or a backlink in your story footer. We keep a running list of partner outlets on our homepage.
- Don’t resell. Verified-tier reports are for your reporting, your organization, and your community — not for downstream sale or commercial redistribution.
- Tell us when something’s off. If a number looks wrong, email corrections@civicworth.com. Civic data has bugs and our public corrections workflow improves the product for everyone.
How review works
- You submit the application form with your byline URL or EIN.
- We review weekly. Most applications are decided within 7 days.
- Approval bumps your account to the verified tier immediately on next sign-in.
- You can re-apply if denied — drop more context in the notes field.
